Long before television hosting and pop fame, Adrienne Bailon-Houghton was simply a church kid who loved to sing.

According to Bailon-Houghton, Martin or members of his team heard the choir rehearsing and invited them to join the concert’s finale performance of the song “Vuelve.” What followed was a selection process that reduced a choir of more than 100 singers to about 30 participants — including a young Bailon-Houghton.
She remembers being placed at the front because she was the shortest, stepping onto the stage first as thousands of fans filled the venue.
