For more than a decade, Charli XCX has been one of pop music’s most inventive voices. But lately, the singer is imagining a different kind of spotlight.

During a recent appearance on Quenlin Blackwell’s online series Feeding Starving Celebrities, the 33-year-old artist spoke candidly about her future — and hinted that acting could become her main focus.

At one point in the conversation, Blackwell asked if she planned to pursue more film roles. Charli didn’t hesitate. “Yes, are you kidding?” she said, adding jokingly that she might even quit music someday to act.

The idea comes at an interesting moment in Charli’s career.

Her 2024 album Brat marked a major high point, winning Best Dance/Electronic Album at the Grammy Awards. The project cemented her reputation as a creative force in pop and electronic music.

But with that success behind her, Charli suggested she’s curious about what else might be possible.

“What else is there to do?” she said during the conversation, reflecting on how far she has already pushed her musical work.

Charli also shared one of her dream film ideas — a playful horror concept inspired by the Final Destination franchise.

Her imagined version would center on a group of glamorous “it-girls” navigating increasingly outrageous and deadly scenarios.

The singer previously floated the idea in a TikTok video, joking about a cast that could include Rachel Sennott, Alex Consani, Gabbriette, Romy Mars, Blackwell — and Charli herself.

In her telling, the group would spend the film “running around being so hot,” only to meet increasingly absurd fates. The concept, she suggested, would lean into humor as much as horror.

While Charli is best known for music, she has already begun carving out space in film.

She recently appeared as herself in the mockumentary The Moment, directed by Aidan Zamiri, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

The film’s cast includes Rosanna Arquette, Jamie Demetriou, Kate Berlant and Alexander Skarsgård, with a cameo from Kylie Jenner.

At the festival, Charli joked about her on-screen persona, suggesting she hoped she wasn’t quite as chaotic in real life as the version portrayed in the film.

More acting projects are already on the horizon. She is set to appear in I Want Your Sex, directed by Gregg Araki and starring Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman, as well as the horror film Faces of Death.

Even as she explores acting, Charli hasn’t stepped away from music entirely.

She is contributing to the soundtrack for the upcoming film adaptation of Wuthering Heights, starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, including the track “Chains of Love.”

She is also writing music for Mother Mary, a film starring Anne Hathaway as a pop star.

In other words, even if acting becomes her focus, music may still follow her into the worlds she’s helping create.

For many artists, shifting creative paths isn’t unusual — especially after years spent defining a sound or image.

Charli has always thrived on reinvention. From underground club tracks to mainstream pop hits, her career has been shaped by experimentation.

Exploring film might simply be the next stage of that instinct.

For now, Charli’s comments feel more like curiosity than a final decision.

But the idea of stepping away from music — even hypothetically — caught fans’ attention because it suggests a moment of reflection after years of relentless creativity.

Sometimes the most interesting question for an artist isn’t what they’ve already done, but what they might try next.

And for Charli XCX, that next act may unfold on a movie screen.
